Childbirth

Koseikan welcomes pregnant women from abroad.
We have doctors from a variety of departments available 24 hours a day for emergencies because we are a general hospital.
However, if you give birth before 34 weeks of pregnancy, we will refer you to a hospital that specializes in treating premature babies (Saga University Hospital or NHO Saga Hospital).

We offer outpatient services for pregnant women every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
If you visit a doctor without a letter of referral, 7,700 yen ーfee for treatment of patients' choiceー will be charged separately from the medical fee for the first visit only.
After the obstetrician completes the ultrasound and medical examination, the midwife will give you a various explanations and consult with you.
Expectant mothers take medical examination every 4 weeks until 24 weeks gestation, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then every week thereafter until the baby is born.
If there is a concern, we will request you to come to the hospital more often.

About Painless Childbirth

As a rule, we perform painless childbirth only when medically necessary. For example, when the mother has heart disease and high stress is considered dangerous, or when there is a complication of diseases that may cause seizures due to pain.

Once labor begins, you'll be admitted to the hospital.
If regular labor pains appears every 10 minutes, please contact the ward.
If this is your second or subsequent childbirth, please contact us when you feel contractions every 15-20 minutes because they can progress quickly.
If the obstetrician examines the patient and deems it necessary, the patient will be admitted to the hospital.
So, please bring with hospitalizable luggage when you come to the hospital.
To contact us at the time of childbirth, please call the outpatient department during the daytime on weekdays and directly to the obstetrics and gynecology ward at night or on weekends and holidays.
For details on the luggage at hosptalized, please refer to [For Inpatients].
